Red Hill (Patrick Hughes, 2010)

  1. Incidentally, both films are directed by men with the most generic Anglophone names imaginable...

  2. So, wait, is RED HILL worth seeing? Is it a legitimate part of that Aussie wave of recent decent indie crime thrillers?

  3. "Recent decent indie crime thrillers" -- a lovely phrase.

Yes, definitely worth seeing and definitely part of the wave (all it's missing is Joel Edgerton!).

It's easily the least "refined," but in some ways my favorite, along with The Square.

Been in a rut trying to write something about these Australian Bs for a while -- maybe it'll come together in the new year.

  4. Thanks for the recommendation and congrats on the AT THE MOVIES gig! I'll definitely be tuning in.
