It was his episode of the Masters of Horror TV series. It's basically Polanski's The Ninth Gate, except instead of looking for a rare book, the main character is looking for a last remaining print of a movie produced by Satan and directed by an obscure avant-garde director. A bit like Carpenter's Prince of Darkness, too, where the main characters discover a portal to Hell underneath a church called St. Godard's.
